The Union Cabinet, controlled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the Vigyan Dhara Scheme for the students of class XI and XII of the Science & Technology branch. The scheme is launched on Saturday, August 24, 2024. The government has set the allocation budget of Rs. 10,579.84 Crore during the 15th Finance Commission period from 2021-22 to 2025-26. The three umbrella schemes has been merged into a unified central sector scheme which is called as Vigyan Dhara Scheme.

The scheme has three broad components which are Science & Technology (S&T) Institutional & Human Capacity Building, Research & Development & Innovation, and Development & Deployment. This scheme will enhance the efficiency in fund utilization and establish synchronization among the sub-schemes.
